Karangasem is located on the eastern side of Bali, famous for its dramatic black-sand beaches and the ancient water palace of Tirta Gangga. The climate is tropical, with dry winters (around 86°F / 30°C) perfect for hiking to the summit of Mount Agung, and wet summers (around 81°F / 27°C) ideal for exploring the 11th-century complex of Besakih Temple.
